things i'm working on.
She spent most of her life believing she was searching for the next thing.
A new idea. A new room. A new flavour. A new company. A new story. A new version of herself.
People sometimes mistook this for restlessness.
It wasn’t.
She was collecting worlds.
She wanted to know what happened if you went down the staircase instead of past it. What happened if jewellery could float. If frozen yoghurt could become an experiment. If a dinner could become another universe. If a person didn’t have to choose one life and stay inside it.
And for a long time she wondered whether this meant she had never quite found her thing.
She had.
Her thing was wonder.
Making ordinary things feel like there might be a secret door hidden inside them.
And perhaps that was why, when her son once asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she couldn’t give him a proper answer.
She looked at him and smiled.
Because by then she finally understood: she had never wanted to become one thing.
She wanted to remain someone for whom the world was never finished.
There was always another floor below. Another door. Another idea waiting in the dark.
and so this is not the end.
